Continuing our Local Social Media Manager of the Month series, Khyati Gandhi from India is next.

Get to know Khyati and the Indian social media landscape a little bit better below.

What’s your background? And when did you start working within social?
I am a psychology graduate that has been working within the media field for the past 6 years and within social for the past 3 years now. I started my career as a producer at a radio station. 

How long have you been collaborating with Mindjumpers?
It has been 9 months since I started collaborating with Mindjumpers.

Which social network do you use the most yourself?
I use Facebook and Instagram the most.

Which social network is the most popular in your country?
Facebook is the most popular social media network in my country, followed by Twitter and Instagram.

Which brand do you enjoy to follow and why do you think they are doing an excellent job on social?
I personally love to follow celebs, blogs like missmalini.com, pinkvilla.com, scoopwhoop.com etc. Amongst brands I like Tanishq because of their graphics. Chumbak is another great brand and I think they let their photos do the talking more than the text.

What makes you most excited about social media?
The fact that I no longer need to wait for a newspaper to get updates and that social media is LIVE. You see the most current events on social media and that is what is the most exciting part of it. Also, I can reach a large group of audiences at the same time.

Are there any dos or don’ts for communicating on social in your country?
The easiest way to reach out to people in India is having an emotional connection. People love to talk about family & friends and posting about that is a sure win.
