A new infographic by Phd Online sums up the story behind Facebook. The now 6 years old social network has grown into the world’s largest networking site with more than 500 million users.
The success of Facebook is rather indisputable with an estimate of 1 billion $ revenue in 2010. But the social network didn’t have a clear business model, when it was founded back in 2004. Still, being launched with focus on the product instead of a sustainable business model proved to be successful.
In 2006 Microsoft became Facebook’s sole advertising investor, but this partnership ended January 2010, and Facebook is now solely powered by social ads.
