Intel museumof meIntel launched a really cool application called ‘Intel Museum of Me’ to promote its 2nd generation Intel core processors. The app connects to your Facebook profile and captures your information. Not to forget, it is ‘allow’ gated, if you have privacy concerns! The app then goes further to make an amazing image gallery of your friends and pictures, and it also captures your location (complete with longitude and latitude).

A lot of virtual museum visitors look at your personalized art exhibition with a soothing sound track playing in the background. The part I found the best about the entire thing, was two robot arms assembling images for the gallery, giving it a hi- tech space age look :-) Also the videos you are a part of and the ones you like and play are on one of the walls of the gallery.

Example of user engagement

Personally, I feel this is a really innovative way to create awareness about a product, which customers do not directly use and is more sort of B2B. It is a smart tactic by Intel to make end users a part of promotions, create a memory and ensure that they remember it. So next time while buying a laptop, we would remember to check if it has the latest Intel core 2 processor!

Earlier on our blog, we have written a lot of posts where you can use the Facebook connect function and be a part of the video, namely in relation to Arcade Fire’s Wilderness Downtown, Swedish Tackefilm, and Desperados.

The caption of the new processor says visibly smart performance with a boost, so I feel the promotion is visibly smart too! At Mindjumpers, we all tried it and found it really exciting. You try it too and let me know what you think.

Here is one of the museum videos I found on YouTube. Have a look and see if you want to make yours too!
