Old Spice owns the spot as the top Viral video Ad right now, but the gap is closing in – it’s the hip hop hamsters.
Little less than a month ago, I was standing on a parking lot in San Diego. Our rented car had broken down, I really liked that car, a mid size Dodge.
Of course I was hoping for the rental car company to replace it with something cool, like a Mustang preferable a convertible – yes please!
There the truck came with my new car on the back – my joy and high expectations disapered like a rabbit into a rabbit hole (or something like that). On the back of the truck stood a KIA Soul, no thanks, not cool!
Long story short – I cursed at the car a few million times, not because it didn’t drive well – it was actually a nice car – It just wasn’t that cool. As my girlfriend said – “I love it babe – it’s a swagger wagon” referring to the viral ads for the Sienna series from Toyota. The only problem is that I don´t really see myself being all swagger wagon ready.
Now to the POINT. Hitting YouTube in the end of May – a gang of Hip Hop Hamsters had gone viral in the last 30 days – claiming the second place on the Viral Video Chart right now. The hamsters turn the KIA Soul into a hipster car and as I said in the beginning of this short post, I thought it were so down and hot damn diggidy cool that we got our car replaced on that parking lot with a KIA Soul ;-)
