In our present society where the Internet has become one of our most important tools, many people seem to forget what we can actually achieve by utilizing e-mail marketing. This is a concept that can be a part of spreading the word of your business, grow a targeted list and hereby accomplish business goals.
Therefore, I have made some research on how to ensure e-mail marketing deliverability success and optimize this marketing tool. Here are some tips to get you started:
1) Always include a compelling message
First of all, a welcome message is extremely powerful, and needs to reflect that it has been given a lot of though. The message needs to make the reader want to carry on, but also set the tone for what to expect from the e-mail. In addition, if placed at the beginning, it ensures deliverability.
2) The cleaner your list, the better
Poorly kept email lists are often hindering e-mail deliverability. Therefore, continual upkeep on a list is crucial in order to maintain quality and clear off bad addresses. Here, I am more precisely thinking about email addresses that have been turned off or inactive addresses that have been abandoned, for example. Therefore, always keep an eye on your current list, so that it stays updated.
3) Always authenticate
Authentication is another important step towards successful e-mail marketing – and in the process of becoming a trusted sender of information. When talking about authentication, it is crucial to show that you are not involved in spamming. Therefore, stay out of using words such as ‘Free’, ‘£££’, ‘Save’, ‘Discount’ etc. – in both the subject line and the content of your email.
4) On time, every time
When sending an e-mail to your subscribers, always make sure that it’s sent on the same day, at the same time, for example, every Wednesday at 3 pm. Your subscribers will come to “expect” your e-mail to arrive in their inbox on the same day at the same time every week, meaning that they want to read your content. When your readers gain trust in you, it can also imply that they are generally more receptive to any special offers or promotions you may include.
5) Ultra-relevant messages
Lastly, when you send out an e-mail, the content needs to be ultra-relevant. You need to listen to your audience, and learn what they find interesting by your messages. This can be done through qualitative and quantitative research methods, for example, which can be very effective. Overall, refine as you move forward and sharpen messages carefully over time. Relevancy is critical to maintaining subscribers – and expanding your current network.
These are just some tips to get you started, but if you really practice the concept of e-mail marketing, it can be a very cost-effective way to communicate to benefit your business.
