A report by Michael A. Stelzner from the SocialMediaExaminer.com answers some valuable questions about social media. You have probably been wondering how much time people spend on social media marketing and what the main benefits are.
The report is based on a survey with 1,898 participating marketers (both B2B and B2C). Stelzner conducted the survey based on the fact that businesses are no longer as hesitant about using social media. It’s pretty much here to stay and companies – small and large – are finding out how to incorporate social media in their practises. The report is meant to provide you with some valuable findings that will help you to take the leap, if you are still unsure about social media.
A striking majority (91%) of the participating marketers are already using social media for marketing purposes. Some of the most questions they want answered the most is about measuring return on investment and identifying best practises.

THE BENEFITS OF SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING:

2. Increasing traffic to your site
3. Building new business partnerships
More than half of the marketers indicated rise in search engine rankings as a benefit of social media marketing. More than half also found that social media helped them generate qualified leads.
TIME SPENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORTS:
1. 1-5 hours a week
2. 6-10 hours a week
3. 11-5 hours a week
The survey showed that majority of marketers spend 6 hours or more each week, and nearly one in three invest 11 or more hours weekly.
TOP SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS:
1. Twitter
2. Facebook
3. LinkedIn
The marketers indicated that blogging were the top area in which they planned on increasing social media efforts, especially when it comes to small businesses.
