Skype has launched a new campaign called Skype Outside to promote their service Skype Mobile. A Skype team of 5 artists located in 5 different countries encourages people from around the world to call and leave them a message. They will then transform it into their own creation of art and release it as a video.
There is a great variety of artists in the Skype team – one of them is a masked designer who unleashes your message in a wild way onto the streets of Tokyo while another is an avant garde artist in USA who creates your message with chocolate. The campaign is present on different social media platforms. Three days ago they did their first tweet and new YouTube videos featured a new message come up several times every day on the artists’ different profiles.
As you may know, Skype is a great communication tool when you’re out travelling or want to get in touch with your friends worldwide. It saves you from unnecessary bills. You will still need to pay for your internet use from your mobile phone though – but still, calling to another country saves you money. By giving people the ability to call artists in 5 totally different countries, Skype makes their global message very clear – it’s easy and fun to send your friends messages wherever they are.
With Skype Outside they show interest in their customers and listen to their voices. They even create art for them. It’s a co-creation campaign where the people give the seed and the artists do the flower. By encourage people to make a call directly to the artists they build a close and friendly relationship. In my opinion this campaign is a great way to show appreciation and costumer care.
