Lego has launched a new site called Lego Click where they manage to make excellent use of social media to strengthen their brand and build a community. Lego is already a strong brand that from an early point has been good at connecting to their customers and make them co-create. In developing their products they have made use of customer’s input and made kids who are Lego geniuses to brand ambassadors.
The new Lego Click site has a cool Lego-ish design that shows a factory of ideas symbolized in the shape of Lego light bulbs. According to Lego, the site is build to be a place of inspiration for all kinds of thinkers, artists, inventors and idea people. It is devoted to that tiny moment when your brain suddenly finds the answer you have been seeking, coz that’s the moment where the pieces come together. They call it a click moment.
In addition they are using various social media platforms to get their messages across and to engage their community. In my opinion, this is a great example of how social media can be used to encourage people to participate and in general celebrate ideas.
On Facebook and Twitter people can post their own click moments and share their ideas for others to be inspired. When you tweet or upload a photo to Flickr then use the #legoclick hashtag, and your material is nominated to be featured on the site.
I also like the iPhone App called Lego Photo that you can use to ‘legofy’ your photos. Just use one of your album photos or take a new one, and it will be rendered in several styles that you can download.
On top of everything, Lego has also made a slick short film to celebrate the click moment and great ideas.
