The Twitter founders, Jack Dorsay, Biz Stone and Even Williams have won the title of Media Persons of 2009 in a competition held by I Want Media.

They were up against 10 really powerful media people, such as Tim Armstrong, Rupert Murdoch, Lou Dobbs, David Letterman and Oprah Winfrey among others.
Actor and twitter Ashton Kutcher comments on the vote and says that we have experienced a paradigm shift in media, just as we experienced with the emergence of the radio or the internet.
The fact that the microblogging service was voted first place tells a lot about the media landscape of today. 2009 was indeed a successful year for Twitter and more and more people have discovered Twitter as an alternative or a supplement to the traditional news stream. In several respects, the service has turned out to be a valuable and powerful tool to spread news and make an impact – eg. as we saw it during the Iran Election.
It will be interesting to see what Twitter has in store for 2010.
