Think Social is a new non-profit initiative dedicated to advancing the use of social media in the public interest. The mission of the project is to connect people and ideas to advance the use of social media to address the most pressing challenges of society. Think Social is built on the idea of sharing and encourages the early innovators and practitioners of social media to share their initiatives, ideas and inspiration with a wider community of people and institutions seeking to create change.

Social media contains powerful tools to make your voice heard, to create awareness about a cause and to inspire people to take action and make a difference. On Think Social’s website you can browse through their case studies catalogue to get inspired by individuals and institutions who have used social media in the public interest, to fundraise and to make people take action. You can find charity cases and good causes like charity : water and Epic Change and see how they’ve used social media to get their messages across to the public and to make a difference.

Think Social Awards

This November, the initiative will be awarding three outstanding examples (an individual, an initiative and a collaboration) that represent powerful models on how social media can be used to address global problems. You can find a list of the nominations here and vote for the ones you think deserves to win the Think Social Awards. It’s also a great place to go if you’re looking for inspiration on how to use social media for a greater good.
