At Mindjumpers we really love when companies use social media to raise awareness or money for a good cause. That is why we’d like to tell you about the one-day event that Weight Watchers are hosting today to fight world hunger.

The event Loose-A-Palooza is a one-day online social networking to help raise awareness for Weight Watchers’ Lose For Good Campaign. On their website, Loose-A-Palooza say, that:

“For every accepted mention or acknowledgment of “Lose For Good” made on September 15 via blogs, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, Weight Watchers will make an additional donation – up to $25,000 – for just one day of social media activity.  This donation is on top of the $1 million Weight Watchers is hoping to donate to Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger as part of the 2009 Lose For Good campaign!”

That means that if Weight Watchers approve of this blog post they will make an additional donation to organisations fighting against hunger. That’s pretty cool. We’d like to help them spread the message; so we’d like to encourage  you to write a post referring to Lose For Good on your blog, become friends with Weight Watchers and support the campaign by mentioning Loose For Good in your Facebook or Twitter status – and help fight hunger while doing so. Pretty easy – but you have to do it today.

The campaign is a really good example on how to create awareness about a brand via social media while supporting good causes – which to us at Mindjumpers is what social media is all about. We hope that Weight Watchers raise a lot of money and make a good contribution towards fighting hunger.
