Is twitter really that big with huge growth and building up momentum to reach the same percentage of visitors as Facebook? New results that survey the biggest social media have come forward with fresh data on how many visitors actually visit social medias on a regular basis.

Twitter vs. facebook vs. myspace

According to Nielsen Online Twitter grew more than 1900 % from June 08 to June 09(US only), and in this period there were more than 21 million unique visitors. Further more visitors spent around half an hour on Twitter in June this year. In relation Myspace managed to regain some of their old stardom by getting more than 12 million unique visitors back on their site. This might come as a surprise, because, as Hitwise suggests, people are not using the site or at least up until now.
According to Adweek.com Myspace has been experiencing the workforce to be slashed with 30% as a consequence to declining rate of visitors.

Bloggers on Mashable keep comment about validation of the statistics from the different social media platforms but nevertheless Facebook is not losing momentum. On top of that Facebook is also growing its video reach and has attract visitors from 4,2 to around 12 million hits during the period stated before (June ’08 – June ’09).
The hits that each of the social media platforms are getting suggests that the platforms have a quite unique position for their core members or followers. In that way – even though Facebook and Twitter are the biggest sites, and Myspace might be sinking – It is not as fast as predicted. A good argument for this is, that when it comes to music content, Myspace is still one of the biggest.
