It’s vacation time – and time for reading those books you never got around to reading. This is the first post with a recommendation on a good summer read.

If you are a company relaying on tech, the Internet, web 2.0 and getting an understanding of it all, or if you are a teacher or a parent and just want to understand the kids “now a days”, I strongly recommend you to read Don Tapscott´s “Grown up Digital”.

It’s a follow up on Tapscott’s successful first book: “Growing up Digital”, and this time with much more conclusive research and study on the Generation Y or Net generation, as he calls them: people born between 1977 and 1997; the first generation to fully grow up in the digital world we live in today.

On the cover of the book, it promises to reveal “How the brain of the Net Generation processes information”, “Seven ways to attract and engage young talent in the workforce” and “Seven guidelines for educators to tap into the Net Gen potential” and they are for sure delivered – plus a whole lot more.

This book is a real eye opener. Just take the discussion: “is this generation a lacy, computer game playing, attention demanding generation?” or is there actually both a reason and a greater potential in the Net generation than in the generations before them?

No doubt that this is one of those books that have made such an impact on the way I see both this generation, the future – and also the way I should run my business, that there is a before I read “Grown up Digital” and an after.

If you read it I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did – and if you’ve already read it; please let me know what you think.
