Loving american football – loving advertising – one of the highligts of the year is definitely the Super Bowl.
So last night – the exitment and thrill of watching a fantastic and tight football game, and se what the big brands had ready for us, didn´t quit ad up in my book.
The theme for me in the this years ads seemed to be the financial crisis – not only because I got disappointed in the lack of creativity, some form of element of surprise and excitement in the commercials – but also because – especially three commercial – were direct linked to the financial crises.
First and worst – Cash4gold – a terrible made commercial with a terrible message – if you dont have any money – sell everything you have that got gold in it – way under price.
The second commercial directly with a link to the financial crises were one of the three Hyundai commercials – promesing that if you finans or lease any Hyundai and loose your income in the next year – you can return it with no impact on your credit!
The last one and for me the funniest – I am a sucker for kids playing adults – is for E-Trade – and sorry – yes i think its funny – for me it might be one of the best of the super bowl ads!
And then for the quick general overview for the commercials – there were, action from Audi, Conan not doing a commercial for bud light, Potato heads for Bridgestone, Monkeys for Castrol, Troy Polamalu for Coke zero, Denny´s with… well the image speaks for it self….
See the mentioned commercials on Advertising Age and a lot more….
Ad on – see how it went for Denny´s and their free grand slam in the article from Advertising Age
And the worst part of it all…. My Cardinals lost the game, 35 seconds from the ultimate – The Vince Lombardi trophy!
